L-shaped with seven doors: five on one length, two on the other. we rounded the corner and there you were. she didn’t know you but immediately recognised my fear. she screamed at you, begged you to leave me alone. i couldn’t do anything. paralysis kicked in. i held up my hands, words uselessly catching in my throat. without even glancing in her direction, you pushed her aside. a mere obstacle, now crumpled behind you. you call me the wrong name and i accept your embrace. and then you went slack in my arms. i let you fall. i push her blood-matted hair from her eyes and we enter the next room.
